Kris Allen Wins American Idol
May 20, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Congratulations to American Idol winner Kris Allen! I didn’t pick him to win, but it was a great finale last night and when all the votes were counted, Kris came out on top and will reign as the new AI champion.
Probably the reason Kris won, besides his enormous talent, was because of the whole voting dynamic thing. When one idol leaves the show many times the votes they were getting aren’t split up evenly between the rest of the contestants. That’s why Allison Iraheta went from being in the bottom 3 for three weeks in a row to being in the top 2 once Lil Rounds left. The female vote was going to Lil amongst her and Allison and when Lil left the show, most of her votes went to Allison.
To take that further and explain why Kris won over Adam Lambert, when Danny Gokey left the show, since he was much more stylistically closer to Kris than Adam, a greater percentage of Danny’s votes ended up going to Kris and he ended up winning.
No big deal for Adam though because he is sure to get a recording contract with his utterly amazing voice. I don’t think I’ve ever hear a male singer able to reach the high notes Adam could. He is probably the perfect singer to replace Freddie Mercury in Queen because I don’t think anyone else can hit the high notes in Bohemian Rhapsody like Freddie could. Anyway, you know someone will pick up Adam and do a record deal with him. He has a long career ahead of himself.
Congratulations to all of the American Idols, this was definitely the most talented group of singers ever. And especially congratulations to Kris Allen. Way to go dude, you deserve it!

A couple of weeks ago us American Idol fans were shocked when Adam Lambert ended up in the bottom 3 and was actually in the bottom 2 contestants. Many fans have picked Adam, with his incredible vocal range, to be the sure thing winner of the whole show this season.
If anyone had any doubt about Adam having the pipes or the talent (I don’t know how anyone could at this point?) they surely would have been able to put them to rest after hsi incredible rendition of Led Zepplin’s Whole Lotta Love. I think that Adam’s version rivals that of Robert Plant’s.
Honestly though, I don’t think American Idol has seen anyone with the talent of Adam Lambert ever. He is probably the earliest stand out and the most sure to win the competition in AI history. I think the problem 2 weeks ago was that the voting dynamic changes dramatically from week to week because of where the person who gets voted off votes go. Allison Iraheta proved that by being in the bottom 3 consistently until Lil Rounds left the show. Apparently many of Lil’s votes went to the only girl left and move Allison from the bottom 3 to the top 2. Unfortunately, that didn’t las too long as she was voted off last week.
It was looking as though it might have been an Allison and Adam final, but that won’t be. Allison had immense talent and maturity for her young 16 years and she’s sure to get some sort of recording deal.
We’ll all watch tonight and see what happens to the last 3 guys left. Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen will put it all on the line on the American Idol stage and I’m sticking with Adam to take it all two weeks from now. Enjoy the show.

American Idol Shocker – Judges Bring Back Tatiana Del Toro
March 4, 2009 | 1 Comment
American Idol fans were shocked at the end of tonight’s program when judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell brought back the screaming and overly irritating Tatiana Del Toro from Puerto Rico. Tatiana lived up to her usual self focused and bizarre personality by immediately thanking everyone a million times and being more annoying than someone trying to suck popcorn out of their teeth.
America made the right choice in not picking Tatiana in the first round of 12 out of the 36 finalists, but unfortunately, and to everyone’s amazement, the judges choose her to come back Thursday night for one more chance. Out of the 8 that will preform Thursday, the judges will then pick 3 to round out the top 12 finalists for the rest of the American Idol season 8. Hopefully Tatiana will be as irritating as possible and the judges will come to their senses. The girl can sing, no doubt, but she ain’t gonna make it with the personality.
So far we have those listed below as finalists:
Alexis Grace – A unique standout that will probably get some sort of record deal if nothing else.
Danny Gokey – The underdog and heartbreak story of this season. Danny lost his wife a couple of years ago. He’s great, but don’t know if he’ll make it to the top.
Michael Sarver – I like Michael, but he just doesn’t look like an Idol. Sorry…
Adam Lambert – Incredible voice, but the whole gay, guy kissing pics thing may hurt him.
Allison Iraheta – A killer rock voice, but a bizarre personality.
Kris Allen – Sorry, I don’t remember much about Kris.
Jorge Nuñez – Great voice and it will be interesting to see how he develops.
Lil Rounds – Lil could take it all, but I didn’t really care for her Mary J. Blige “Be Without You” song last night.
Scott MacIntyre – Scott has soul and puts serious feeling into his music. He does best behind the piano, but not sure if he’ll make it to the end.
And here are the wild card picks for Thursday night and what I remember about them:
Anoop Desai – Great voice, doesn’t look like an Idol.
Ricky Braddy
Jasmine Murray – There’s always that one young 16 year old that could steal the whole show. Maybe Jasmine is this year’s suprise.
Matt Giraud – Good soul voice and reminds me of Elliot Yamin
Megan Corkrey – Okay, Megan is probably the most unique musician on this year’s Idol and is one of my favorites. Watch out for this girl…
Jesse Langseth – Incredible confidence. Jesse will do great no matter what happens on Idol.
Von Smith – Incredible voice, but may not be the total Idol package.
Tatiana Del Toro – eeeeew, please don’t vote for her.
One last item, Kendall Beard put on a great performance last night, but I think America has enough gorgeous blonde country singers for the next decade or so. Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood have those spots filled up.
Stay tuned for the 8 wildcard performances and the last 3 of the top 12 picked from this group Thursday. My predictions for the wild card? Look for Megan Corkrey, Anoop Desai and Jasmine Murray to give us our top 12 American Idol finalists.
