Diana Ross was the musical mentor for the top 12 American Idols this past week as she gave her advice and critiqued the hopeful contestants. Diana is a superstar with her musical career spanning 4 decades and she was gracious with her time and instruction. However, for some it didn’t matter because they just aren’t going to make it.

Here’s how the top 12 performances went down tonight:

Brandon Rogers – Brandon sang Can’t Hurry Love and he proved once again that he’s just going to be a backup singer when it comes to music. He just doesn’t have a lead voice and was slammed by Simon and the other judges because he forgot the words, a serious no, no.

Melinda Doolittle – Melinda is so professional it’s like you’ve paid hundreds of dollars to see a famous star sing and she’s doing the best performance of her career. She just knows what she’s doing and she should win the competition.

Chris Sligh – Chris sang a forgettable Endless Love. Chris is good and has incredible raw talent, but it just didn’t go over well tonight. Chris just needs to be himself.

Gina GlocksenLove Child was Gina’s choice and boy is it a hard song to sing. There were good and bad spots, but the song fit her personality well and she should be back next week.

Sanjaya Malakar – Sanjaya was much better this week than what we have heard so far from him. However, he, just like Chris, needs to stick to who he really is. He gussied up his hair and it wasn’t necessary. Simon made another asinine comment which will probably cause Sanjaya to get several hundred thousand pity votes.

Haley Scarnato – I think Haley’s version of Missing You started out bad and just stayed there. And to think America voted for her over Sabrina Sloan is incredible. After Haley messed up the words she should be out. She shouldn’t even be in this competition.

Phil Stacey – I can’t quite put my finger on it, but Phil just isn’t the right person for this show. He screams way too much and should just chill on the vocals a bit. His version of I’m Gonna Make You Love Me was okay, but not Idolworthy.

Lakisha Jones – Okay, everybody knows American Idol is really a 2 person competition this season. Either Lakisha Jones or Melinda Doolittle will win this show. The both of them are so far above the rest of the crowd is is unbelievable. If one of these ladies doesn’t win, the voting is fixed.

Blake Lewis – I like Blake because even when he does a song that doesn’t fit his personality he still shows life, unlike Haley Scarnato. This wasn’t Blake’s best night so far, but he should recover and go on to next week.

Stephanie Edwards - Love Hangover was her Diana Ross tune and I think she’s much better than most of the rest of the gang this season. It didn’t go over well with the judges though. Sometimes I don’t get it?

Chris Richardson – Chris sand The Boss and he once again proved that he’s just a mediocre boy band singer. His voice doesn’t have any power like Chris Sligh’s does. Simon thought it was dreadful.

Jordin Sparks – Jordin sang a great version of If We Hold On Together. I was pleasantly surprised at Jordin this evening because I just didn’t think she was that good. She made me eat my words tonight and it’s a 3 girl race. Every one else should go home.

So who will go home tomorrow night on American Idol? Chris Richardson, Brandon Rogers and Haley Scarnato were the weakest performances this evening and my prediction is that Brandon will be voted off. He just doesn’t have any life and he’s boring.

Tune in for the results tomorrow.
