Antonella Barba Is Gone, Now What Do We Do?
March 13, 2007 |
Tonight we move into a different phase of American Idol with the debut of the top 12, minus the controversial Antonella Barba. Antonella continues to make waves as she is still one of the most searched for terms on the net.
Anyway, enough of Antonella Barba. Tonight Idol features the top 12 singing Diana Ross tunes on a 2 hour show. Not that we don’t want to watch American Idol, but do we really need to see another 2 hour show and hear Sanjaya Malakar and Haley Scarnato sing more than a single tune? I think not.
There is some question as to whether Idol will get the record numbers of viewers it gets year after year with the quality of the contestants and how the voting has gone down so far this season. There are at least 3, maybe 4, contestants that really don’t have any business being in the top 12 this season. How did they get there over the likes of Sundance Head and Sabrina Sloan? God only knows. There were obviously a huge block of fans, or just voters, that gave Sanjaya the pass on to this week show.
Maybe the next controversy, since Antonella is gone, will be that someone like Sanjaya will win it all because of sites like VoteForTheWorst.com and Howard Stern talking about this site on his show. Now just think about that, what if Sanjaya Malakar wins American Idol? I think they’d have to come up with a better voting system next year.
Watch the show tonight and see what happens and then watch on Wednesday and see who gets the boot.
