The top 10 ladies sang on American Idol tonight and I do believe as a group they weren’t quite as good as the guys last night. However, I do think the best girl Idols are better than the best guy Idols. The less talented ladies really stood out tonight though like Antonella Barba, I mean, she can’t sing!

Here’s how the show went down with the American Idol Girls tonight:

Gina Glocksen - The girl can sing and I don’t care what Simon says Gina sang Heart from the heart and she was edgy. She rocked!

Alaina Alexander - Alaina sang I’m Not Ready To Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks (who everybody can’t stand right about now) and she did a pretty good job considering how she sounded last week. I don’t think she was as bad as Randy and Simon made her out to be.

Lakisha Jones - She started out a little bit nervous tonight with her rendition of Midnight Train To Georgia, but she pulled it together and was still in the top 2 contestants tonight.

Melinda Doolittle - She was the best performer of the night and looked totally professional. Her rendition of My Funny Valentine was first class, Simon loved it and said she was a breath of fresh air. You go girl!

Antonella Barba - Why is she still here? She butchered Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me. It was flat and seriously boring and it’s a travesty that she made it as far as she did when girls like Baylie Brown had way more talent. By, by Antonella.

Jordin Sparks - With all of the other top ladies singing tonight, I don’t think Jordin sounded that good. Yes, she has talent, but I think she can do better.

Stephanie Edwards - This is the first time I’ve actually heard Stephanie sing and I think she did okay even though I don’t like Beyonce. The song was way to busy for me.

Haley Scarnato - She sang Queen Of The Night, but didn’t sound like a queen. Her performance was great, but her vocals weren’t. I think she’s going home with Antonella.

Leslie Hunt - The jazz vocal run at the end of her didn’t sound good. There are only a few singers in the world that can do that and if you aren’t one of them, you shouldn’t try.

Sabrina Sloan - Sabrina looks like an American Idol and she sang like one tonight. Her Whitney rendition was incredible and she exudes confidence. If she plays her cards right she could win the whole thing.

So, who’s going home on Thursday? My prediction is that Antonella Barba and Haley Scarnato will be voted off. Antonella was pitiful and Haley just doesn’t have the voice to compete.

Tune in tomorrow for the results.

Do you think Simon will comment on Antonella Barba tonight? Simon Cowell is notorious for making snide remarks to American Idol contestants after their performances and since the Antonella Barba picture scandal is the biggest thing on the net right now, how can Simon resist?

Simon was unusually cruel to Sanjaya Malakar last night about his wardrobe and was quite derogatory to other contestants about their dedications to their Grandmothers and other family members. So, I can’t imagine Simon not slipping in some sort of innuendo tonight, it’s just in his nature.

Things could be particularly brutal for Antonella if she doesn’t make a good impression tonight. Even if she puts on a really bad performance tonight she is likely to get people to vote for her because of her popularity. She is the most tagged name on Technorati.com right now so we shall see what happens tonight and on the voting results tomorrow night.

After the American Idol guys put on a great performance last night, the girls are up tonight. After last week’s performances it looked as thought the ladies were going to steal the show. It’s amazing how much different a week can make. For instance, Sundance Head was a totally difference person last night.

The American Idol ladies that are singing tonight are:

Antonella Barba - Big controversy here with the photos. Can Antonella put that behind her and sing?
Hayley Scarnato
Melinda Doolittle - One of the better performers in the entire competition
Alaina Alexander - She had to deliver a knockout tonight or she will be gone.
Gina Glocksen - There’s just something about Gina I like. She doesn’t seem to be the usual cut of top 40 performers.
Lakisha Jones - Lakisha has the talent to win the whole thing. She put on an incredible performance last week and was by far the most talented of all the contestants, male or female. She needs to show a little more confidence during the interview after her songs, but there’s nothing wrong with her singing ability.
Leslie Hunt
Sabrina Sloan
Jordin Sparks
Stephanie Edwards

Tune in tonight.

Tonight is the night for the girls on American Idol and the big question really is, how will the show deal with the controversy surrounding the photos of Antonella Barba?

Can Ryan Seacrest look her in the face tonight and say nothing about what has transpired during the last week? As is Ryan’s custom he likes to comment about various happenings in the lives of the American Idol finalists and there has been plenty going on with Antonella Barba. If you’ve been reading anything about American Idol it’s hard not to know that she has had at least 2 sets of photos released that show her in various stages of undress and in compromising situations.

Antonella’s friend Amanda Coluccio claims that the worst of the photos are not of Antonella and there’s quite a lot of speculation there. I guess we’ll see how this whole thing works itself out. If the second set of photos are of Antonella, then she should be removed from American Idol, if not then she should stay as long as she can sing well and America votes for her. However, she’s really not that talented, but it’s hard to tell what will happen now that she has one of the most searched for names on the Internet.

Maybe she’ll do herself in tonight by singing poorly and all the controversy will be over.

The guys finally showed up on American Idol tonight! Hat’s off the men, they really put it together and showed America that the do have some talent. I especially have to give the high 5 to Sundance Head because he absolutely rocked with his rendition of Mustang Sally. Dude, where have you been?

Here’s how the show went down:

Phil Stacey - He performed I Ain’t Missing You by John Waite and Simon called it very good karaoke. I don’t totally disagree with him, but I think it was just slightly above karaoke.

Jared Cotter - He sang Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On. He did pretty well for such a raunchy song. Simon said it was like the Love Boat.

AJ Tabaldo - He did fairly well for a song that I didn’t really know. It did however remind me of a singer at a high school dance.

Sanjaya Malakar - Simon proved tonight with his comments about Sanjaya that he is a complete idiot. Simon was purposley cruel to Sanjaya tonight. Sanjaya needs to get a little more modern, but he has his own style and Simon should stop being such an ass about the whole thing.

Chris Sligh - The dude has a big voice and a big heart Chris rocked the house with a great rendition of Trouble and could win the whole show.

Nick Pedro - Nick was more true to his style tonight, but a little on the pitchy side. He was much better than last week.

Blake Lewis - Simon proved once again what a jerk he is with his comments about Blake. Blake is amazingly entertaining and sure to make it to the top 12 if not to the top 5.

Brandon Rogers - The guy can sing and he needs to start picking songs to show off his voice. Not bad dude, but we need something other than Cindi Lauper.

Chris Richardson - Randy said Chris is in it to win it. He did good, but I just don’t like the boy band style voices like Justin Timberlake. They are just too weak for me.

Sundance Head - Sundance was like a different person tonight. Where has this guy been the whole competition? Fortunately he showed up tonight in a big way. Way to go Sundance!

I hate to make predictions because I’m usually way off, but I have to because that’s why I’m here. I predict Sanjaya Malakar and Nick Pedro will be going home on Thursday. Sanjaya really needed to step up tonight and he almost did, but every one else was so much better I think it’s the end for Sanjaya. Nick Pedro just doesn’t seem to have that extra Idol something that it takes. He looks like he should be on The Apprentice, not American Idol.

The ladies are up tomorrow night and they have their work cut out for them because the guys rocked tonight.

American Idol features the guys tonight as the top 10 men try to win the public’s heart and keep from being eliminated. As was fairly evident last week the ladies were much better than the guys by a mile. It seems a bit unfair that the guys even deserve to get 6 of them on the top 12 when the American Idol girls did so much better.

The 10 guys singing tonight are:

Brandon Rogers
Sundance Head - he has to do much better or he will be eliminated
Chris Richardson
Nick Pedro - another stinker na ddoen’t really deserve to be in the top 10. You better rock tonight or you are gone.
Blake Lewis
Sanjaya Malakar - A favorite, but didn’t do well his first time out.
Chris Sligh - He could win the entire competition.
Jared Cotter
AJ Tabaldo - He’s better than I expected.
Phil Stacey - Weak at the beginning of his first song, but managed to pull out the stops at the end.

Let’s hope the Idol guys do much better than they did last week. At least the guys don’t have to deal with the scandal over the photos that Antonella Barba has caused.

I think we were all shocked tonight as the results came in for the voting on American Idol. All my predictions were totally off and everyone I picked to leave American Idol tonight will be back next week. Rudy Cardenas was probably one of the better male singers on Tuesday night and he’s going home, go figure.

I’m most surprised about Alaina Alexander getting another chance, that’s absolutely crazy. Does she have a fan base that just speed dialed her number for 2 hours straight? Her rendition of Brass In Pocket was terrible, but America voted and she will be back next week.

Another shocker was that Sundance Head will be getting another chance. I think the guy is good, I think he has talent, but he just doesn’t do well under pressure. He shouldn’t have even made it through the Hollywood auditions, but he’s still here and he’s coming back next week.

We found out that Sanjaya Malakar is in the top 4 guys tonight as well, which is kind of surprising since he didn’t do that well on his Stevie Wonder song on Tuesday night. There is something very likeable about him so that’s why he’s still in it in a big way. He will have to do better if he’s going to go further though.

The four contestants who got sent home on American Idol tonight are:

Paul Kim - He didn’t do that well on Tuesday, but he didn’t deserve to go home.
Amy Krebs - I’m pretty shocked here because I thought she sounded fairly good.
Nicole Tranquillo - The song didn’t work for her last night, but she hit the right notes and wasn’t deserving of being sent home.
Rudy Cardenas - What? Free Ride was awesome! I don’t know what happened.

I think I’m going to stop predicting because somebody is out of touch here. It’s either me or the voters? I just hope that the most talented contestants end up getting the spotlight.

Stay tuned,

Alan

Tonight is the night that American Idol really gets into the swing of things and the public, yes you and I, start to whittle things down to the eventual winner. Four unlucky contestants get the boot tonight and get sent home by you.

Who will those 4 Idol hopefuls be? My American Idol predictions for the first four to go are:

Alaina Alexander - She sang the Pretenders, Brass In Pocket that was horrible. When she sang that song we all thought, how did she get here?

Antonella Barba - She sang an uneventful I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing. See ya Antonella.

Which 2 of the guys are going home? Well, as bad as they were and as good as the ladies were, I think we could send everyone but 2 of the guys home. However, my predictions are:

Sundance Head - Sorry dude, you have potential, but it just didn’t happen. The Moody Blues tune Nights In White Satin just isn’t a song that should sound like that.

Nick Pedro - You got a second chance this year, but with your performance last night I’m pretty sure you will be gone tonight.

That’s it! Well, see what happens tonight on American Idol.

After the six girls performances on American Idol I saw tonight (I only saw the last half of the show), it looks like the guys are going to have to pack their bags. Sorry Idol guys, but the ladies blew you away. I was able to see a few seconds from the rest of the ladies at the end including Amy Krebs, Leslie Hunt, Sabrina Sloan, Antonella Barba and Jordin Sparks. They we’re all better than the guys.

Below are the performers I saw and a brief critique of each:

Nicole Tranquillo - She did hit most of the right notes during her song, but it really didn’t work for her. She’s a good singer, but will have to pick a better song next week.

Hayley Scarnato - Her rendition of an Air Supply song was fairly good, but a little flat for me.

Melinda Doolittle - Wow! What a performer. Melinda proved with this song she is no longer a background singer and could win the whole show.

Alaina Alexander - Her Pretenders song was not good. It was totally the wrong song for her and frankly there isn’t anything that’s dynamic about that song at all. It certainly isn’t a song for anyone to perform on American Idol. Alaina will probably be going home after a performance like that.

Gina Glocksen - She did a good version of All By Myself and made it her own. Even though she hit a couple of bad notes it was a good performance.

Lakisha Jones - Unless Lakisha has a bad week I believe she will be this year’s American Idol. She absolutely brought down the house and as Simon said was in a league all by herself.

So which of the ladies are going home tomorrow? My predictions are Alaina Alexander and Antonella Barba. Alaina’s performance was just bad and what I saw of Antonella wasn’t impressive at all.

Tune in to American Idol tomorrow evening to see who gets cut.

The top 12 guys just got through performing and my first reaction is, there certainly isn’t any Elliott Yamin this year. I’m surprised the judges picked some of the guys they did because the performances were a bit weak this evening.

With that said here are the top 12 guys and the number to vote for your choice. The numbers to call or text are with each singer.

1. Rudy Cardenas - Not that bad tonight. He did justice to Free Ride by Edgar Winter.
Vote for Rudy at 1-866-43657-01 or text “vote” to 5701 for Cingular customers.

2. Brandon Rogers - Sang a Michael Jackson song that really wasn’t right for him.
To vote for Brandon call 1-866-43657-02 or text “vote” to 5702

3. Sundance Head - Knights In White Satin - this is a classic tune by the Moody Blues and he didn’t do well.
Vote for Sundance at 1-866-43657-03 or text the word “vote” to 5703

4. Paul Kim - He’s got to lose the barefoot thing, it isn’t working, especially since he didn’t sing that well on Careless Whisper.
Vote for Paul at 1-866-43657-04 or text the word “vote” to 5704

5. Chris Richardson - I think Chris is much better than he performed tonight. His voice needs to be much bigger.
Vote for Chris at 1-866-43657-05 or text the word “vote” to 5705

6. Nick Pedro - Fairly weak performance and pretty boring
Call 1-866-43657-06 to vote for Nick or text the word “vote” to 5706

7. Blake Lewis - Thankfully Blake began to redeem the evening for me. he was probably the best singer tonight.
To vote for Blake call 1-866-43657-07 or text the word “vote” to 5707

8. Sanjaya Malakar - I wanted him to do well, but he didn’t. The song just wasn’t right and he’d better do better next week or he’s gone.
Vote for Sanjaya at 1-866-43657-08 or text the word “vote” to 5708

9. Chris Sligh - He did pretty well, but not great. One of the better singers tonight. Simon thought it was a student gig.
Vote for Chris Sligh at 1-866-43657-09 or text the word “vote” to 5709 for Cingular customers.

10. Jared Cotter - Not a very dynamic song tonight, but he sang it well.
To vote for Jared call 1-866-43657-10 or text the word “vote” to 5710

11. AJ Tabaldo - He’s better than I thought, but he won’t be the winner.
Vote for A J at 1-866-43657-11 or text the word “vote” to 5711

12. Phil Stacey - He started out a bit rough on his Edwin McCain song, but he ended up great. He needs to stay in his range. One of the better performances tonight.
Vote for Phil at 1-866-43657-12 or text the word “vote” to 5712

My predictions for the two guys to get voted off: Sundance Head and Nick Pedro. I change my prediction from an earlier post because A J Tabaldo was much better than I thought.

I think the ladies have a fairly easy job tomorrow night. They could easily stomp the guys.
