Recap Of American Idol Finalists

As we highly anticipate the 6th season of American Idol (over 100,000 people auditioned) lets do a recap of season 1-5 finalists with some comments on a few of the contestants starting with the most recent season 5.

The 12 American Idol finalists were:

Ace Young - I’m sure he got tons of votes from the ladies but his voice just didn’t hold up as being strong enough to be Idol worthy.

Bucky Covington - I’m surprised he made it as far as he did. He seemed like a nice guy but his strength was in southern rock and country and songs like Stevie Wonder’s Superstition just didn’t cut it.

Chris Daughtry - Lots of talent, but screamed too much. Voted off too early.

Elliott Yamin - Everybody like Elliot, especially when you could see how much he loved his mom. We were surprised by his voice and it just kept getting better as the weeks went on.

Katharine McPhee - I never could figure Kat out. One week she blew viewers away, worthy of a winner, and the next you wonder how she made it as far as she did. She had an odd way of dancing at the beginning of the top 12, but the talent coaches must have worked with her and she did get better at the end. It should have been a Taylor and Chris final though.

Kellie Pickler - Everybody loved Kellie. Great looking, great voice, but just didn’t have the stage personality to make it too the end. I was going to go nuts if she apologized one more time for messing up. She doomed herself and could have won if she would have learned not to talk so much.

Kevin Covais - A nice guy and proof that the underdog still has a chance once in a while.

Lisa Tucker - Come on America, this girl was dynamite and you voted her off way too early. She will be a star someday. Who has a personaity like this girl at 16? Nobody!

Mandisa - Great voice, but just didn’t have the right look for an idol.

Melissa McGhee - Looked great, had some personality, but definately not idol worthy. I’m surprised she made it as far as she did.

Paris Bennett - Paris could have won this season, hands down. No one has the talent she ddid at her age. She should have been in contention till the very end, but never got a fair shake from any of the judges.

Taylor Hicks - The Winner! Taylor deserved it because he had something new every week and had the most personality of any of the contestants. How cool was it when he brought a harmonica to the top 12 interview. Way to go Taylor.

American Idol Season 4 - 2005

Anthony Federov - Dug the piano towards the end.

Anwar Robinson

Bo Bice - Runner up and should have won. He stood out because he wasn’t your typical top 40 idol material. It would have been nice to have something different.

Carrie Underwood - The winner! Great personality, great looks and has proven to be the best choice of the fans. In one year she has racked up so many awards you can’t count them. The favorite, most popular and quickest to rise to stardom for an idol thus far.

Constantine Maroulis - A total shock when he was voted off. Easily could have won. Don’t know what happened here.

Nikko Smith - How didi this guy make it as far as he did?

Scott Savol - There was just something about Scott that people liked.

Vonzell Solomon - Great voice, but just never seemed that comfortable on stage.

That’s the way American Idol has shaped up so far. Rumor has it that Paul McCartney and Mariah Carey will be guest stars on Idol this season. I guess Mariah needs something to revive her dwindling career.

It should be a good season since 100,000 people auditioned. I’m sure the judges were quite busy. Get ready for the premier of American Idol in only 3 days.
