American Idol Season 6 Premiers January 16th & 17th

All American Idol junkies and regular fans get ready, our Idol fix is coming January 16th and 17 for a 4 hour premier on Fox TV starting at 8pm. Idol Judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell are back for Season 6 of auditions, surprises, wannabes and just plain weirdos.

Of course everyone loves the auditions on the first few shows because we get to watch the strangest of the strange and we get to pick out who we think just might be the winner this year when we see them on their first appearance.

Last year, the first time I saw and heard Kellie Pickler I though she would be the winner. She had the looks, she had the voice, but unfortunately she just didn’t have the stage presence to get the job done. But she has done fairly well with her debut cd Small Town Girl which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart during the week of November 18th 2006. Her single Red High Heels was her first single.

Some of the best moments of the beginning auditions are Simon’s wisecracks aimed at the contestants who have little to no talent. I think we all like Simon a little bit because Simon says what the rest of us are thinking. You just have to wonder why someone with no talent, or for that matter, totally bizarre would want to make a fool of themselves. You also have to wonder why some of these wannabes friends wouldn’t tell them, “Dude, don’t go on American Idol and make an ass of yourself.” But, if they did that, we wouldn’t get so much enjoyment out of it now would we.

Get a new TV if you need to, get your snacks, get drinks and get your text message skills ready because a whole new American Idol season starts in just 7 days. Don’t miss it.
